Ellis Property Development hired Apiary Studio to design exterior plantings for this project in the Francisville neighborhood of Philadelphia. Cadre Design created a restrained brick apartment building, punctuated by numerous window openings, which Apiary softened with profuse silver-foliaged plantings. Our palette is anchored by two species of willow: Salix helvetica (Swiss Willow) and Salix arenaria (Creeping Willow) as well as two ground covers: Artemisia ludoviciana ‘Valerie Finnis’ (Silver Wormwood) and Deschampsia cespitosa (Tufted Hair Grass). Within these blocks of silver and green are a scattering of other flowering perennials and annuals that add color and detail.
