From small city dwellings to rural acreage, improvised parklets to sprawling campus settings, we are comfortable working in environmentally sensitive areas as well as technically challenging urban environments. Horticultural Consulting

We believe that there is a right plant for every situation and that city environments contain untapped opportunities for both gardens and habitat creation in the most unlikely settings. Our planting style focuses on taxa that support wildlife, provide four-season interest, and delight and intrigue people. We specialize in utilizing and capitalizing upon existing site and climactic conditions, specifically plants that can tolerate and thrive in lean soil, periodic drought, and seasonal temperature extremes. We also advise on productive landscapes, nursery facility design, and plant procurement.

Construction, Installation & Landscape Maintenance

Apiary Studio offers a spectrum of landscape installation and maintenance services as well as the design and construction of small garden structures, primarily for the build out of our own work, and in select instances for that of outside design firms. We often say that a garden should actually look its worst on the day it is completed; planning for proper maintenance and care is absolutely necessary for the stewardship of living spaces into their full design and user intent. For clients who choose to take on the maintenance of their spaces themselves, we can also produce manuals or periodic garden coaching as needed.
