Working with Ben Herzog Architect, Apiary Studio has designed a series of garden spaces that will complement the historical rehabilitation of a classic Brooklyn brownstone. The back yard garden will include a small play space surrounded by lush native perennials, shrubs and small shade trees. Low, raised-bed vegetable gardens and a play lawn will provide opportunities for children to engage with the outdoors. Most adult activities will take place on the roof terrace, which will be outfitted with a full bar, kitchen and dining area. The astonishing views of the Manhattan skyline will be framed by screen plantings and a tensile shade structure. The modest front entry garden will be crisp, green and clean, blending with the neighboring facades in one of Brooklyn’s greenest neighborhoods, the aptly named Carroll Gardens. This project is currently under construction.
